HEARING: John Stevenson has previously been commended for saving two lives.

The married father-of-three was caught on camera kicking a 16-year-old boy in the head after arresting him following a chase down Spring Bank West on October 10 last year.

Sgt Stevenson was involved in one of the most high-profile cases in Humberside Police’s recent history when he arrested his own boss, Colin Andrews, who was found guilty of stalking, harassment and assault.

Over a career which spanned nearly three decades, he was commended twice after saving the lives of two people.

But, in a hearing at Priory Road police station, he was accused of falling “so far below the professional standards” that he was dismissed without notice.
