Police commander misconduct notice suspended

The Borough Commander for Richmond and Twickenham has been suspended from duty and faces a gross misconduct investigation after allegations of inappropriate behavior were made this week. A superintendent has also been placed on restricted duties. Chief Superintendent Colin Kennedy, a former staff officer to Sir Paul Stephenson and head of covert policing, has today been served with a notice of investigation and suspended from duty.

A Scotland Yard detective has been sacked over failures in an investigation involving an associate of Mark Duggan, whose shooting by police sparked nationwide riots in August 2011. A Metropolitan Police probe into an armed assault by Kevin Hutchinson-Foster, who went on to provide the same gun to Duggan, was found by the police watchdog to have had “a number of failures”.

The police officer accused of ‘vandalising’ a rape case involving four students is still working on serious crimes and has not been disciplined, it was revealed today. Gloucestershire Detective Constable Ben Lewis was accused of having ‘broken’ the trial process after holding back information that led to the friends being cleared of sex crimes this week.
